There is this place just near home where I get my movies from. I prefer series' to movies because I can watch series' longer as compared to movies. A good series has 8 to 10 episodes and a better deal is when it has 12 episodes. So you can imagine how terrible I felt when I started watching a certain series that had 6 episodes in it. SIX episodes! That is less half what I bargained for. I should have spent 25 shillings then instead. Am not really complaining about the cost but its the worth or value that I paid for. I got less than what I expected which is not a good thing. I did get short changed.
More often than not in life we do get short changed its not only in the things we can purchase but also relationships, careers among other things. Is it that we expect so much out of something then end up disappointed? Is it that we set very high standards that are too unrealistic to be met? I don't think so! What I know is some things package themselves in beautiful glittering wrapping paper but once you unwrap it all you find inside is utter garbage. Total rubbish. Take for instance movie trailers. They are a sneak preview of a movie that will be showing soon. To attract viewership all they need to show you is how great the movie is. Of course its business so they only show the good side. When you grab the movie is when you realize you have been duped. It is a lie and nothing that good exists and there you are having fell for it.
In life we have to be careful with what we pick or opt for. We always pick what we deem to be attractively packaged. Only to be disappointed. The old guys were not mistaken when they said all that glitters is not gold. Sometimes because its all wrapped up you can't tell. What works best though is to be open minded, that way you get less disappointments. I have come to learn that if you do not expect anything from someone you will be in for pleasant surprises. This however does not mean that we should not have any expectations just don't have them cast in stone.
