I was reading the book OUTLIERS-the story of success by Malcolm Gladwell and it has opened my eyes and made me look at things differently. The book is about a couple of factors that contribute towards success. The author has is facts right and I can confidently say he knows his game. He has statistics to prove or at least back what he is talking about.
So everybody wants to be successful but I beg to ask what is success? When do you decide you are successful or is it the society that decides you are successful? Many things were said in the book some of it mumbo-jumbo that I could not make out but one thing that clearly came out was that in order to get on top or to be on top of what your want to be in charge you have to work for it. You have to be patient and take advantage of the opportunities presented to you.
The likes of Bill Joy, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs( the list is endless but these are the only ones I can relate to-yes guess my age) are the people who were mentioned and a brief summary of how they got on top is given. Their stories are remarkable and sometimes(most of the time) the media falls short of saying how hard they had to work to make it. I envied these people because they have made it and I ask myself where have I been? Then I read their stories and realize hey you know what I still have time to get on top to get up there too. I can be like them if I choose too. If I take advantage of what I have, if I don't squander my autonomy if I do my 10 000 hours all these if followed can be a pathway to success alongside other prescriptions.
I am able to do what it takes because I have what it takes to get on top. On top of my game on top of my league on top of the world.
